Laced

Freestyle poem from awhile back...

Thoughts of you invade my head like martians from a third galaxy type place
They scream, take me to your leader but my heart is poison laced
I mean, that's the only explanation I could cipher because I've been lonely too damn long
Tortured in the twilight hours, without love everything just feels wrong
But Can you be picky when you're starving? If I'm begging can I choose? Because I want to be in love, but only with you
I believe you're the anecdote to this poison laced heart of mine, but you're not here and the outcome is just as lost as I
As I am, as I was, and as I will be--lost in God knows where until you find me
Maybe this is just another dream, I know none of this can be real
But this real cold loneliness envelops me and into my heart creeps fear
Makes itself at home, whispering doubts into my ears
This is supposed to be your home, and those whispers are supposed to be sweet nothings
But my heart is not a home because you never came and picked up the key
And now the martians are here to take advantage of me
Maybe I'll go with them willingly find love on another planet
Or maybe I'll just be a star
Shining brightly, a beautiful cosmic creation for everyone to behold
But never meant to know
Never meant to know love, just supposed to be
Yeah, that's it -- I'll be a star
And no one will be in danger of my poison laced heart.
