Hype Woman

"The word 'romance,' according to the dictionary, means excitement, adventure, and something extremely real."

But do we as women hype each other up to create romances that aren't there? In other words, do we inadvertently send each other on a journey for romance, looking for excitement and adventure when it was never there in the first place? Most likely, yes. Friends will always tease each other. Simple comments and glances are analyzed, over-analyzed, and turned into magical movie moments. We already know this. But the real question is, are we accidentally hurting each other?

The goal is not to chase any man at all, but if you had a moment, and your homegirls turned that moment into a special moment, and you got caught up in the romanticism of it all, the next thing you know, you're buying products from ACME trying to trap a roadrunner that was never meant to be caught. But the crazy thing is, I don't think we romanticize things with the purpose of hurting each other...I think it's just in our female nature to pick up on the slightest hint of like, lust, or love between not only our friends and thier beaus, but everyone. It's a primal instinct, and there's so much competition out there, we push the ones we love to the head of the pack.

I've seen two completely separate groups of girls have the same conversation about the same guy, each group telling one of their girls that the boy was interested in them, that he doesn't treat every girl like that, that they shared a moment. And it was said out of love, not spite, but ultimately, did the coyote ever catch the roadrunner? NO, but he did keep trying. We'll just have to keep getting flattened, railroaded, and smashed up, and we'll straighten each other out before the next scene opens, and we're chasing our prince charming again. Meep! Meep!
